Seattle

We left New York (reluctantly) after a wonderful 5 nights, but we were super excited about our next stop.  Especially Ivy!  We were headed for Seattle to visit with a family we met at the girls primary school.  They moved to Seattle 3 and half years ago.  Ivy has kept in contact with Mary over the years and had been looking forward to seeing her since she found out we’d booked the tickets – months and months!  Finally the wait is over.

We landed on Friday afternoon and flew out on Tuesday morning.  We hardly saw our kids from the minute the 4 Colbert children arrived home on Friday until they left for school on Tuesday morning.  Mary and Ivy took up where they left off (from their last video chat!) and the smaller kids got to know each other again.  While we chatted with Alison and Tim all day and late in to the night about the past 3 years.  It was like a little intermission in the holiday.  Some down time to socialise with the added bonus of seeing beautiful Seattle.  It’s a really pretty city and reminded us a little of Sydney with all the water and houses and boats around.

We spent a day in town, a day at the snow, a day ‘at the lake’ playing baseball and footy and letting the kids run a bit and then it was time to say goodbye again.  The kids complained that it was not long enough – but us adults reminded them it was better than no time at all.  We look forward, very much, to the next encounter – maybe in Australia, maybe in the US again….
